I'm a senior lecturer at the Language and Communication Centre at the University of Eastern Finland. Currently I run courses in scientific communication. I also run a Writing Clinic for staff and
students, and also work with researchers as author's editor.
I also try to help students get through the Theory of Knowledge course (part of the International Baccalaureate
programme) at the Lyseo High School, Kuopio.
I studied philosophy, politics and economics at the University of Wales at Cardiff, then after a year in Switzerland
doing odd jobs I went to the Centre for East European and Soviet Studies at Glasgow University to study Soviet and Chinese history and philosophy. I spent a
year at Moscow State University in the mid-seventies, supposedly studying Soviet philosophy but in reality just having a wild time.
After several years teaching English in Italy, Spain and Finland, during which time I obtained a Royal Society of Arts
diploma in teaching English, I got my MA in applied English linguistics at the University of Birmingham.
I used to spend several weeks every year in Morocco. Recently I've been spending 1-2 months a year in Cuba. After a
visit to Nepal last year, I'm thinking of going there to study Buddhism.

I am Manuel, from Spain and I was one of your pupils when you worked at Inlingua. I bumped into you by chance and didn't want to miss the opportunity to say hello to you.
best regards, Manuel
